3 Things I Wish Someone Warned Me About Indian Weddings

I got married and I wish I had known these things earlier

I didn’t have a big fat Indian wedding (thank God)…

But there were still a lot of lessons that came out from the scaled down version of my Indian wedding.

And here are my top three lessons:

1 — Your guest list will keep changing

Wow, they really don’t. I don’t know if it’s just a generational or Indian thing, but it was pretty hard to organise the table settings and food pax when you don’t know who was showing up and who wasn’t.

Fortunately, my husband had a ballpark figure, and most of my guests were from far away so they all informed us beforehand. We had about a 10% drop out rate towards the end. There was some food wastage which I wasn’t happy about but according to our dinner venue, someone packed up the food and brought it home. Oh, well. Good problem.

What can you do about nobody RSVPing? You can be strict, you can get someone to be in charge of it (someone with a firm hand, preferably), or you can just do what my husband and I did — wing it.

2 — You will have to take note of everything yourself
