I just got back from my first ever trip to Japan. I visited Tokyo for five days.

It was a solo trip so I wanted to be as prepared as I could. I asked around for things to do (and what not to do, of course).

I had some good advice from people (and TikTok) about what I should bring.

While I didn’t adhere to everything (it became rather “information overload” after a while), here are the few things I’m so glad I carried along with me:

International charging adapter

Japan’s power sockets aren’t the same as the ones we have in Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia. I’m glad I carried my international charging adapter with me. I actually got one as a gift from Changi Airport many years ago and it’s been my trusty adapter for years.

The good news is that if you don’t have an adapter, you can charge your phones using USB outlets. My hotel had one so that made it easy for me to charge my laptop and phone at the same time. Yes, I carry my laptop on vacations too — I have a problem! Haha.
