I suck at creating graphics.

But this is the closest thing I could create to demonstrate the difference between copy and content writing.

Wait, what are you on about, Manisha?

Yes, folks, news flash.

I’m NOT a copywriter.

I remember discussing this with Hinly Wong (who IS a copywriter).

He said it really well:

Content is to “tell” while copy is to “sell”.

That’s what I do. Content writing.

I write blogs, captions, and other business writing stuff that tells a story. That demonstrates an example. That explains something. That shares knowledge or expertise.

The aim of content writing is to increase brand awareness and understanding, grow traffic, generate leads and THEN get sales.

But with copywriting, you typically go straight to conversion as your goal.

So ask yourself what you need in your business right now. What stage is your business in?

Sure, everyone wants to make a sale but how are you communicating with your client?
